Taxation Out Of Control - Family of child who lived one hour charged "death tax"

In King County Washington the family of a baby who lived just one hour was charged a "death tax" for the review of her death certificate. In what appears to be a simple money grab, King County decided it needed to review the death certificates of all people who die so that the surviving family members know how their loved one died. Larry Clark, the little girls grandfather commented: "Every time I turn around the county appears to be nickel and diming us, putting a tax on this and a tax on that. Where does it end?" Sadly, Larry the end isn't in sight. To read more about this story click here

2011 brings over 100 new laws to Illinois

The story should read as follows: When Illinois residents turn the page on their 2011 calendar, they can expect to have over 100 news laws to abide by. Two that might be used more than others relate to speeding. Beginning January 1, 2011, drivers who exceed the posted speed limit by 30 miles per hour are subject to a $1,500 fine and may face 6 months in prison. If you think that is harsh, drive 40 miles per hour over the speed limit and you may be facing 1 year in prison plus a $2,500 fine. I suspect the legislature instituted this law to get their last crack at those who are fleeing the state given the new 66% tax hike it just implemented.
