G.W.'s husband was being admitted to a hospital in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.  While he was being attended to, G.W. sat in the waiting room with family members.  After a period of time, she went for a walk in the hospital to calm her nerves.  While walking on the second floor, she was dragged into a bathroom and brutally raped, sodomized, and robbed, suffering physical and emotional injuries.  While there are security cameras within feet of where G.W. was attacked and raped, the hospital's position was that they were not working at the time of the attack and therefore, there was no security tape to review.

The parties were able to arrive at a pre-suit settlement.  The terms of the settlement were to remain confidential.
