Dog Bites and Animal Attacks
When dogs attack, they can cause serious injuries. From puncture wounds to tears and lacerations, victims of dog bites can be looking at painful medical procedures costing thousands of dollars. The U.S. Centers for Disease Contol and Prevention (CDC) estimates that nearly 5 million people every year are bitten by dogs. One in five of those bitten by dogs suffer bites serious enough to require medical attention.
Missouri law has made dog owners strictly liable for injuries caused when their dogs bite. Strict liability simply means that the injured party doesn't have to prove that the owner was negligent. If the bite occurs, then the owner is at fault unless it can be shown that the injured party "had fault in the incident".
